OTTAWA – After a pair of thrilling overtime games to start their 2021-22 season the Carleton Ravens return home tonight to open the home half of their schedule. With a pair of Montreal rivals coming to town the Ravens are ready to battle for all important points in an already jam-packed OUA Far East.
On Friday night the Ravens will host the McGill Redbirds in the first meeting between the two teams since January 4, 2019. The Ravens will need to use their size on the blueline, including rookie defencemen Jeremy Masella (Phoenix, Ari.) and Kaleb Bulych (Yorkton, Sask.) to shut down the skilled McGill squad. The towering pair of Ravens defenders bring a combined 13 feet to a core that returns CJ Garcia, Andrew Jarvis and Matt Barberis. Tickets for Friday night’s home opener are sold out, so if you haven’t bought yours already you’ll need to catch the game on OUA.tv.
On Saturday the Ravens will look for some long-awaited revenge when the Concordia Stingers come to town. It was the Stingers who eliminated the Ravens from the 2020 playoffs after the team set a program record with 24 regular-season wins. Despite going 4-0 over the Stingers in the 2019-20 regular season, a loss in an overtime marathon followed by a challenging game on the road saw the Ravens playoffs hopes dashed. Captain Cody Caron (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) and assistant captain Brogan O’Brien (Prince George, B.C.) lead a fast and skilled forward group that will look to strike early and take the buzz out of the Stingers game plan.
A limited number of tickets remain available for Saturday’s game.
Puck drop for both games is at 7:00 p.m.
