OTTAWA – The Carleton Ravens have announced their second defensive signing ahead of the 2022-23 season adding two-way defenseman Braeden Virtue. The 6’1″, right-shot defenseman joins Alexandre Hogue as the second defenseman added for 2022.
A product of Northborough, Mass., Virtue played four seasons in the QMJHL before joining the Spruce Grove Saints (AJHL) for 2021-22. In fifty games with the Saints Virtue has 17 points and 100 penalty minutes. In four years in the Quebec league, Virtue played for Quebec, Gatineau and Charlottetown, appearing in 152 games, scoring 22 points and adding 190 penalty minutes.
“It’s in a great location, and has a great hockey program,” said Virtue. “I’m looking forward to getting to work with the great coaching staff.” For the time being, Virtue will continue to focus on the AJHL season where his Saints are in first in the North division.
Virtue will come to Carleton in the fall to study business while playing for the Ravens and brings some professional pedigree with him. Virtue’s father Terry played a 16 season professional career including games in the NHL and over 800 games in the AHL.
Carleton Ravens men’s hockey returns to the ice to continue their 2021-22 season on Friday, February 18 as they host the Concordia Stingers in the first of six remaining regular season games.
