Q: Why did you decide to attend Carleton?
Carleton’s a great environment for both my academic and athletic goals. It’s a good school in my hometown with the best soccer program in the country.
Q: What part about playing for the Ravens soccer team are you most looking forward to?
I look forward to the day to day. One thing Covid took away from us is the consistency of football and I’m excited to be in a great environment every day.
Q: How did you get started in soccer?
At a young age I loved playing many sports and I tried many things but when I was 11, I realized soccer was what I really loved most and that’s when the focus and hard work started.
Q: What is your style of play?
I like playing with the ball and building out of the back and, as a defender I equally love the gritty side of the game.
Q: Is there a professional soccer player that you model your game after?
I don’t model my game around one player because I don’t think that’s a smart thing to do. I think it’s better to study situational plays from all the top players in every position at the highest level. As a centre back, my favourite players in that position are Jose Fonte, Milan Skriniar, John Stones and Dejan Lovren.
Q: Describe your strengths and some areas for improvement:
I’m calm on the ball, and I make the right decision with my passes. Defensively, I’m a good athlete with good pace and athleticism. I read the game well and position myself correctly to help stop many attacking situations. I think right now I need to work on building up to match fitness and also getting as sharp as possible before the season.
Q: Which academic program will you be studying and why is that of interest to you?Cognitive Science. The mind and human behavior are interesting.
Q: What extra-curricular activities do you enjoy?
I enjoy working out and going out to eat with friends and family.
