Kingston, Ont. – The Queen’s Gaels hosted the OUA Eastern Conference finals at the ARC Pool on Saturday, Nov. 27 with the defending OUA silver medalist Carleton Ravens earning the qualifying spot in the OUA Final. The Ravens will host OUA Western Conference winners Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday, Dec. 4 at Carleton.
The Ravens needed overtime to beat the stubborn crosstown rivals Ottawa Gee-Gees by a 10-9 score. The teams were deadlocked 9-9 to end regulation time and Ottawa missed their final of five penalty shots. The Ravens were a perfect 5 for 5 with the winning goal going to Carleton’s Quinn Davies.
Raven veteran David Lapins put on a clinic in the final game against Queen’s on Saturday evening, scoring a weekend-high six goals in their 11-6 win. Lapin lead all scorers with seven over two games.
The Gee-Gees went 1-1 at the event with a 9-6 morning win over Queen’s to go with the loss to the Ravens. Leading scoring on the day for Ottawa were Ethan Odger and Robert Djukic with four goals each.
Queen’s took third position, their seeding going into the event. Queen’s scoring was balanced throughout the day with JP LeBlanc netting three goals, and Adam Windsor, James Crowe, Joe Krushelnick recording two each.
