The Carleton University Ravens Nordic Ski team had another successful day at the OUA Championships in Haliburton, Ontario, hosted by the University of Waterloo. Carleton would add a medal in each the men's and women's events today to increase their tally seven medals in two days of competition.
In the men's 15km Classic, Carleton's Colin Abbott of Whitehorse, Yukon, skied to a gold medal finish in a time of 0:46:14.5, just 1.6 seconds ahead of the second place skier from Lakehead University. The Ravens had two more top ten finishers in the race in Matthius Purdon of Owen Sounds, Ontario, who recorded a time of 0:47:55.7 and secured 4th place while Chris Mamen of Chelsea, Quebec was just 1.2 seconds back for the 5th place finish at 0:47:56.9.
Kyle Power from Labrador City, Newfoundland, earned the 14th spot in 0:50:49.7 while Ottawa native Robert Anderson took the 21st spot with a time of 0:52:20.8. Kent Mamen also of Chelsea finished in 25th place skiing a time of 0:52:44.6 and Fletcher Courage rounded out the Ravens' skiers in 32nd spot at 0:54:27.8.
In the women's 10km Classic, the Ravens' Zoe Braul of Vancouver, British Columbia captured the silver medal in a time of 0:36:56.3, just 5.5 seconds back of Lakehead's Britt Bailey. Adele Lay from Eden Mills, Ontario, suffered from some back pain today to finish in 7th with a time of 0:38:30.0 after claiming the gold medal in the 5km Free yesterday.
Chelsea native Sarah Mame took 11th place in a time of 0:39:13.3 and Carleton teammate Monica Stoeger of Kearney, Ontario, finished in 15th place in 0:40:14.3. Lindsay Cook of Winnipeg, Manitoba earned the 31st spot in a time of 0:47:07.1.
