It's all systems go at TAAG Park this week with Carleton Ravens action starting Wednesday night and running almost straight through to Sunday.
The first Bytown Battle of 2024-25 takes place on Wednesday evening when the women's rugby team host the Ottawa Gee-Gees. The Ravens (0-1-1) enter the game a point out of the fourth playoff spot in the RSEQ but will be in tough against the number three team in U SPORTS. After being stunned the U SPORTS quarterfinals last year, the Gee-Gees have a lot to prove this season. With early wins over top RSEQ competition in Montreal, Laval (#5) and Concordia (#10), Ottawa carries a +68 point differential into the match.
The Carleton Ravens men's soccer team will honour the program's OUA championship squad when the 1984 team returns for Alumni Weekend. Always a fantastic weekend, the celebration is part of Men's Soccer's alumni weekend. A licensed concession will be available for those in attendance as the Ravens face the always challenging Varsity Blues on Friday.
The University of Toronto sides are always difficult, with the women's side having eliminated Carleton from the playoffs last season while the men's side pushed the Ravens scoreless through 90 minutes before Eric Yoseke scored the winner in stoppage time.
The UofT women (3-2) enter the weekend one point behind Carleton (3-2-1) while the men (5-1) sit just a win behind the undefeated Ravens.
On Sunday afternoon, the men will return to TAAG Park to host the always-difficult TMU Bold, led by star striker Chris Campoli.
Carleton Ravens football will look to make it back-to-back wins when they host McMaster on Saturday at 4:00 PM. The game is pivotal in the race for the OUA playoffs as the two teams are currently tied for 7th in the standings.
