Curling
Curling History:
The Carleton Ravens Competitive Curling Club was founded in 2011-12 after an absence of approximately 40 years. Carleton has both men’s and women’s teams compete in the OUA Championships. The teams both received financial and in-kind support from the Rideau, Ottawa and RA Curling Clubs and their members, as well as financial support from a number of parties, including Carleton University Athletics and CUSA as well as the Ottawa Valley Curling Association and Curling Canada.
Women’s Team:

The team represented Canada at the 2015 Winter Univerisade Games in Granada, Spain where they won silver.

The 2016-2017 Carleton women’s curling team comprised Lauren Horton (skip), Karen Sagle (vice), Lindsay Bell (second) and Jessica Armstrong (lead).
2018 OUA Women’s Championship:
The Ravens exploded out of the gate on Day 1 with a 10-0 win over Western, however, they would fall to Guelph, 5-4, later that day. Carleton rebounded with a 7-5 win over the eventual group winner, Laurentian, followed by an impressive 8-5 victory over McMaster. Day 3 did not go Carleton’s way after losses to Waterloo (6-5) and Brock (5-4), but the Ravens would still manager to qualify for the knockout round.
Facing Lakehead in the elimination round, Carleton would drop its quarterfinal game, 4-3, to the Thunderwolves.
Men’s Team:
The Carleton men’s curling team has advanced to the U SPORTS/CIS Championships four times since re-inception as one of the top three teams at the OUA’s.
- The 2016-2017 Carleton men’s curling team comprised Doug Kee (skip), Brendan Acorn (vice), Cameron Goodkey (second), Paul Martin (lead) and Wesley Stakes (alternate).
- The 2018-2019 Carleton men’s curling team won the OUA and U SPORTS banner. The team comprised of Brendan Acorn, Mackenzie Calwell, Morgan Calwell, Cameron Goodkey, Wesley Stakes and Peter Stranberg.
