What our Athletes have to say
"My university career would not have been complete if I wasn’t a member of the Carleton figure skating team. Figure skating is an individual sport so coming from a competitive background I always longed to be a part of something bigger than myself in a team environment. I met some of my best friends on this team and I wouldn’t change my experience for the world. Not only did the early morning practices allow me to get a head-start on my academics for the rest of the day, but they also allowed me to continue to pursue my spot after my competitive career. If you’re looking to get more involved in University extracurricular activities, enjoy team atmospheres, wish to challenge yourself in new disciples of the sport, are looking to maintain participating in an athletic activity, all while giving your mind a well deserved break from your studies, the CU figure skating team is an excellent opportunity to do so. The support you receive from your coaches and teammates is unparalleled and the memories that you make on this team will last a life time. Once a Raven, always a Raven."
Cailin McDowell, Team Member 2013-2017
Being on the Carleton Figure Skating Team was one of the best things I did during my time at Carleton. School can be very stressful at times and it’s easy to make excuses and say “oh I don’t have time for this” but waking up every day, typing up my laces and stepping on that ice made all that stress go away, even if it was just for an hour or two. Being on the team also taught me how to balance school with being a competitive athlete and it’s helped me far beyond my time at Carleton. I would 100% recommend joining the Carleton Ravens Figure Skating Team!
