After spending two seasons with his hometown club Atletico Ottawa, Ravens alumni Matteo de Brienne is on the move joining Swedish side GAIS.
The high-speed defender made a name for himself as a dominant rookie on the 2021 Ravens squad which reached the national championship game at TAAG Park. The electric de Brienne then immediately cashed in on his first OUA season landing a contract with Valour FC. In 75 career games across the CanPL, CanPL Playoffs and Canadian Championship Matte has scored 6 goals, 7 assists and played over 865 minutes.
One of the oldest clubs in Sweden, GAIS (Gothenburg Strongman and Athletics Association) are four-time Swedish Champions and four time winners of Allsvenskan – the Swedish top-division. The club returned to the top tier after finishing second in Superettan in 2023 and winning the third-tier Division 1 Sodra in 2022.
