Ravens Announce Outstanding Graduating Male Athlete of the Year Nominees
The Carleton Ravens have announced the nominees for the Jack Vogan Memorial Medal, awarded annually to the top graduating male athlete.
OTTAWA (Mar. 23, 2026) – The Carleton Ravens have announced the nominees for the Jack Vogan Memorial Medal, awarded annually to the top graduating male athlete. This award will be presented at the 2026 Varsity Banquet on March 26.
Jack Vogan, or "Jake" as he was known on campus, was a popular and beloved figure on campus known for his easygoing manner and dry sense of humour. Before his passing within months of his Carleton graduation, he was the starting centre and co-captain of the basketball team in 1955-56. In the words of Norm Fenn, who coached Jake for two years and knew him well: "As a person and as a player, he is one of the finest individuals I have ever met in athletics."
Presented annually to one male student-athlete who, through activity in Athletics, has exhibited throughout their career at Carleton University, a high and progressive standard of performance, participation and attitude, with emphasis placed on performance.
2026 Jack Vogan Memorial Medal Nominees
Brady Curkovic – Soccer
Brady is a two-time Academic All-Canadian and has been named Ravens Athlete of the Week. He won an OUA goal medal in 2023, attending nationals in Cape Breton with the Ravens men's soccer team.
Isaac Fortin – Nordic Ski
Isaac is a four-time Academic All-Canadian and 2024 OUA All-Star. This season, Isaac capped off his OUA career by helping lead the Ravens to the 2025-26 OUA Championship.
Nick McCarry – Hockey
Nick McCarry, assistant captain of the men's hockey team, is an Academic All-Canadian and an OUA Second Team All-Star. Before going pro at the end of the season, Nick scored over 100 career points and led the team in scoring in back-to-back years.
Marjok Okado – Basketball
Marjok has won three USPORTS Championship Gold Medals, one OUA Championship Gold Medal, and one OUA Championship Silver Medal with the Ravens men's basketball team. He has 1,000 career points and was named to the OUA Third Team All-Star and OUA All-Rookie Team.
Ty Rouse – Golf
Ty is a three-time Academic All-Canadian and 2025 OUA bronze medalist. He had a top six OUA finish in 2021 and top 20 finish at the 2025 golf nationals. Ty and his team have also qualified for the 2026 national championship tournament this coming June.
Xavier Malone – Football
Xavier is an OUA Second Team All-Star and East-West Bowl Participant. In 2025, he was the OUA leader in tackles with 7.8 tackles per game. A force throughout his career, Xavier has a total of 188 tackles in 36 career games.
