Nordic Skiers Named Athletes of the Week

The Carleton Ravens have named Nordic skiers Sophia Giangrande and Graeme Abbott Athlete of the Week following a pair of stellar performances at the OUA Championships.

Each week, Carleton Athletics names the Athletes of the Week as presented by Gabriel Pizza, the official pizza of the Carleton Ravens.

Sophia Giangrande

After opening the 2026 OUA Championships with a tightly contested bronze medal in the 15 km, Sophia Giangrande dropped the hammer in Sunday's relay, skiing an 8:05 opening lap to lead the Carleton Ravens Team A to a dominant relay win.

Graeme Abbott

After opening the OUA championships with a gold in the 15 km Classic, Abbott never relinquished space on the podium, earning a silver in the 9 km free before dropping a 6:54 anchor leg in the relay to see the Ravens capture the OUA Championship.

Ravens Flying High

Dylan Kayijuka (men's basketball) had 15 points, including 11 in the first half, as the Ravens beat Lakehead to advance to the semifinals.

Kyana-Jade Poulin (women's basketball) had 28 points in the Ravens quarterfinal win over Guelph.

Nathaniel Snyed was the highest men's point scorer at the OUA Nordic Championship, collecting three medals.
