Carleton Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Patrick Delisle-Houde (de-lil-hood) as the new head coach, men's hockey. Delisle-Houde joins Carleton from the McGill Redbirds, where he has served as Associate Coach since 2021.
"Patrick brings a modern, high-performance approach grounded in player development, accountability, and team culture," shared Kwesi Loney, Ravens Director of High Performance Sport. "His experience across U SPORTS and professional hockey, combined with his ability to connect with student-athletes, makes him an outstanding fit to lead our men's hockey program into its next chapter."
Delisle-Houde is a proven leader who helped McGill reach the 2024 U SPORTS University Cup as OUA bronze medalists. Under Delisle-Houde, the Redbirds had the top-ranked penalty kill in the country.
Prior to joining the McGill coaching staff, Delisle-Houde was the strength and conditioning coordinator with the Montreal Canadiens from 2017-21, helping the Canadiens to reach the 2021 Stanley Cup Finals.
As a player, Delisle-Houde was the captain of the Redbirds in his final two seasons. Delisle-Houde played in 134 regular-season games, recording 124 points, helping McGill reach two U Cup tournaments. Before attending McGill in 2012, he played four seasons in the QMJHL with Rimouski and Moncton. In his final year, he served as the captain for the Wildcats. Delisle-Houde also appeared in the 2009 Memorial Cup tournament while with Rimouski.
A bilingual leader, Delisle-Houde holds a Master of Science, Exercise Physiology and a Bachelor of Science, Kinesiology from McGill University, as well as a Hockey Canada High Performance 1 designation and a CES Certificate from the National Academy of Sport Medicine.
"This is an exciting opportunity to build and empower individuals to succeed in the different aspects of their lives," shared Delisle-Houde. "I believe that to move forward, improve and lead, each individual needs to be fully committed to each other, to care for each other, and be ready to compete with and against each other in the most respectful way. Competing will make the individuals and the team stronger."
Patrick will join Carleton Athletics at the beginning of June, as he begins planning for the 2026-27 season. Delisle-Houde becomes the fifth head coach in modern program history. He will take over for Mark Cavallin, who served as interim head coach for two years.
Carleton Athletics extends its sincere thanks to Mark for more than a decade of service to the men's hockey program, including time as goalie coach, associate coach and interim head coach.
