Quebec City, QC (Mar. 6, 2026) - A buzzer-beater by Tyanne Matosas-Adderley gave the No. 7-seeded Carleton Ravens a 64-62 victory over the No. 6 McGill Martlets on Friday in the first consolation game of the 2026 SunLife U SPORTS Women's Final 8, presented by Michelob and Hilton Québec.
The Ravens led 22-16 after the first quarter, but the Martlets stormed back with a 19-point second period to take a 35-31 halftime lead. Carleton rebounded after the interval, and the game was tied at 46-46 after three quarters. The back-and-forth contest featured five ties and seven lead changes, culminating in a wild final sequence. With the score tied at 62 and 12 seconds left, McGill had the ball with a chance to play for a potential game-winning shot. Lily-Rose Chatila drove to the bucket but was blocked by the Ravens' Jacqueline Urban. Catherine Olivier picked up the rebound, fed it to Kyana-Jade Poulin, who found Matosas-Adderley streaking to the net, and she made no mistake as the buzzer sounded.
Matosas-Adderley led the Ravens with 16 points, while Jade Poulin had a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Oliver added 12 off the bench for the OUA finalists, while Urban chipped in with 11.
For McGill, Emilia Diaz-Ruiz earned player-of-the-game honours for her game-high 21 points on 6-for-11 shooting. The only other Martlet in double figures was Emma-Jane Scotten, who had 12 points.
Carleton (25-10, 16-6 OUA), advances to Saturday's fifth-place game at 1 p.m., where they'll face the winner of Friday's other consolation game between UBC and Toronto Metropolitan.
