WHKY| Women’s Hockey Down Warriors

The Carleton Ravens women's hockey team picked up a huge regulation win on Saturday afternoon, downing the Waterloo Warriors 3-2. The Ravens' win capped off a difficult weekend schedule that saw them face Queen's on Friday afternoon before heading to Waterloo.

Saturday afternoon, the Ravens entered the Columbia Ice Field and put the sixth-ranked Warriors on their heels when Payton Miller fooled Lauryn Busseri with a dump-in from centre. Gracey Smith tied the game midway through the first, but Victoria Kay's high tip just a second after a power play ended in the second gave Carleton a 2-1 lead entering the third. 

Tatum James evened things up for Waterloo on the power play early in the third. With the game tied at two and overtime looming, Kennedy Vickers was the hero for the Ravens. The first-year forward picked off a breakout pass and slung a wrister over the shoulder of Busseri to give Carleton the lead with 21 seconds to play.

Kaitlyn Langille had 35 saves for the Ravens in the win as they picked up their sixth win of the year, and their first in regulation. 

With six games to go, the Ravens remain 8 points behind Nipissing for the 5th and final playoff spot in the OUA East. Carleton is at home for the next four straight, welcoming Brock and Western on Friday and Saturday night.
