The Carleton Ravens women's soccer team earned a split of their home opening weekend, picking up a decisive win over Laurentian before falling 3-2 to Nipissing on Sunday.
The Ravens continued their strong play on Sunday afternoon, going shot for shot with the Nipissing Lakers.
Ava Mills connected with Lauren Illman just five minutes into the contest, and she deposited her first of the season to the far side. After Annika Nolte scored to draw level, Illman earned a penalty kick and made no mistake from the spot, depositing her second past Hayden Hanley.
The Ravens held their lead through the break. Despite playing a strong full-field game, Hannah Neville drew the match level in the 52nd minute, and Bella Nolte joined her sister on the score sheet in the 82nd minute to break the Ravens' hearts.
Carleton comes away with a 2-2 record through two weekends. They will now travel to Ontario Tech on Saturday afternoon and Trent on Sunday before hosting the Ottawa Gee-Gees on September 19 at TAAG Park.
