OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens men's hockey team picked up a point for the second straight night on Saturday, but it was Derek Hamilton who was the hero, scoring on a penalty shot for the Gaels.
Carleton had come from behind to force overtime, with Alex Johnston entering the zone at full speed tiping a Garrett Wright pass beating Christian Purboo for the game-tieing goal.
Queen's took their first lead in the opening period with Owen Lalonde scoring the game's first goal. The lead held until the second period when Reese Belton deflected Majid Kaddoura's wrist shot from the high slot past Purboo.
The Gaels would take their second goal of the night just a minute into the third before Johnston tied things up, forcing the overtime.
In overtime, Derek Hamilton appeared to be in alone when Majid Kaddoura was called for hooking setting up the extra time penalty shot. Hamilton took Mark Grametbauer left and then right before beating his blocker side for the victory.
The Ravens will need to press reset quickly as they travel to TMU and Nipissing next weekend.
