Ottawa (October 6, 2025) - The Carleton Ravens men's hockey team returned home from a successful opening weekend with three of four points. The Ravens opened their season Friday night with a 3-2 win at Queen's, before gaining a point in a 3-2 overtime loss to Ontario Tech on Saturday.
Saturday, the Ravens found themselves on the other end of a 3-2 final. Nick McCarry continued his hot start to the season, snapping home his second of the season midway through the first period. Then, early in the second period, Reese Belton found McCarry on a bounce pass of the wall, springing the Simons Valley Storm alumni for his third goal in two days.
Unlike Friday, the Ravens were unable to hold on Saturday, as penalties and special teams took over. Alex Drover would score on the power play midway through the second to cut the lead in half, and Brady Koran would tie things up late in the period to send the game to the third all square.
After a calmer, tight-checking third, the Ravens found themselves in their first overtime situation of the season. The opportunity for late-game heroics proved brief. Despite getting the first shot of overtime, the Ravens quickly found themselves defending the Ridgebacks' trio when Justin Svenson snapped a shot past Tye Austin for the win.
