OTTAWA (Oct. 13, 2024) - It was a tale of two sides for the Carleton Ravens men's hockey team over the weekend scoring an impressive 5-2 win on Friday night at McGill before falling hard at the hands of Concordia on Sunday.
Playing their first regular season game at Place Bell, the Carleton Ravens used three goals in the middle of the second period to spoil the McGill Redbirds home opener. James Mayotte scored off a cross-ice pass from Nolan Seed to make it 1-0 after twenty minutes before the Ravens blew it open in the second.
After Reese Belton scored on the power play early in the second, Nolan Seed would hammer a point shot past Alexis Shank for a 3-1 week. Just thirty seconds later Scott McKenzie would force a turnover at the blueline and Will Collins would go down the ice and score on the breakaway for the 4-0 lead.
McGill would cut the lead to within two but couldn't rally back as Oliver Castleman added a fifth Ravens goal for the 5-2 win.
Trailing by two just four minutes into the action Sunday afternoon, James Mayotte scored midway through the period but Concordia would explode for two goals to lead 4-1 after one period of play.
The Stingers offence never let up scoring twice in 49 seconds early in the first before adding two goals 17 seconds apart late in the period to lead 8-1 after two. Sean Larochelle scored just 15 seconds into the third and Loick Daigle added a tenth late in the period as Carleton dropped a 10-1 decision on the road. The Ravens were outshot 50-22 in the losing effort.
